Support for Salesforce Summer ’16
The Salesforce Smart Loader (SSmL) application has been specifically designed to meet the needs of Data Migration and Data Integration specialists who work with Salesforce.
As well as providing a sophisticated and customisable framework, SSmL also offers out-of-the-box capability for handling many of your common data migration and data integration tasks.
SSmL works with the standard Salesforce objects and fields as well as being able to be configured to work with your own custom objects and fields, and packages that are supplied by third-party vendors.
With SSmL, you will dramatically reduce your cost of development and deliver robust solutions in a fraction of the time that it would usually take.
Prerequisites for using SSmL
To use SSmL, it is recommended that you create a new Salesforce account that has the appropriate rights to allow it to make API requests, and have access to all of the Salesforce objects that are to be maintained.
You will also need to create a unique External ID, again, for all of the objects that are to be maintained.

SSmL works on the basis of zero knowledge of your source system, allowing for maximum flexibility.
SSmL provides a number of input templates that you may map your source data in a simple manner. SSmL automatically manages many aspects of your mapping, ensuring that your own mapping exercise is a simple process.
Mapping spreadsheets are provided as an analysis aid that will guide your Business Analysts through the mapping process.
SSmL allows you to, optionally, stage your data within an SSmL Salesforce Staging Object, allowing you the opportunity to review quality reports and amend your data prior to committing changes. If you are not using this optional staging object then your data will be automatically committed, with quality failed data being rejected and reported in a traditional manner.
All data mapping to the Input Templates is a simple to-text mapping, with a 255 character output available for all Salesforce fields that a length of 255 or less. This strategy minimises the impact on your own work as all conversion, translation and validation is automatically handled by SSmL.
A simple configuration process allows you to configure the nuances of your own data. These parameters include: –
- Input Format
- File Type
- Column Delimiter
- Row Delimiter
